Wonderful Theater
One of the only places to reliably catch foreign and independent films in the area. It has been restored beautifully.

A true theater experience!
The Naro has been an icon of the Norfolk student scene for many years and continues to be. Always playing interesting films, rarely playing anything you can find in a regular theater. Wonderful popcorn and comfortable seats make this single-screen theater a must. Don't miss the Rocky Horror Picture Show every other friday!

Dinner and a Movie - in one!
The NARO is practically a historic landmark in downtown Norfolk, VA. The theater is large, more like a theater for shows than a movie theater (there is a balcony!) . You can purchase food while you eat, and they show all types of movies. Many of the movies have already been released, and others are independent films that haven't made it to many of the big screens. They also have an amazing movie store attached where you can rent or buy pretty much every movie ever made. Definitely worth the trip!

One of the oldest movie theaters in the area by Charles B. at InsiderPages
The Naro is one of the oldest movie theaters in the hampton roads area and it is also one of the nicest. The Naro is a single screen theater that shows some new movies, but what is most impressive with it is that it regularly shows the classics. My favorite thing about the Naro is that they save all their movie posters that they display and offer them for sale to the public. They have an incredible selection of classic movie theater posters and lobby cards

Right this way to Intellignet Cinema by Gregory R. at InsiderPages
One of the only independent movie houses in the area, the Naro is the only place to catch the best Indie, foreign, and offbeat cinema. A true landmark in Norfolk!

Great Small Theater
This theater is located in the Ghent business district of Norfolk, and the theater itself gives you a very old school feel. The theater usually plays more...

NAro
The Naro is one of the best old movie theatres in this area. It really brings back memories being there. That red velvet curtain makes you feel like you are at fancy show. Really nice place to go.

Highly recommended by Mitch L. at InsiderPages
One of the best (and only) places to catch indie films in the Hamptom Roads area. Great old world theater; large screen and seating area, excellent sound.

A great independent movie theater in Downtown Norfolk by Michele F. at InsiderPages
The Naro is one of the oldest working movie theaters in Norfolk. It usually hosts those hard to find, independent films that often aren't shown on the major big screen. The theater has an upstairs balcony where you can sit instead of on the floor seats, and their food and snacks are very inexpensive. The screen is covered by a huge red velvet curtain that opens when the movie starts. It really makes going to the movies fun again, and makes you nostalgic for an era that has long since passed.
